Summary

The Horseshoe Pass is a short but sweet blast offering some great views and challenging driving. Big drops and huge slate embankments offer no sympathy for overcooking it. It's best to go on a weekday evening to avoid tourist traffic descending upton Lllangollen, whcih incidentally, is well worth a visit if you feel the need to win favour with the mrs. At the top of the pass you can stop off at the Ponderosa (www.ponderosa.viviti.com) for a brew, or alternatively this could be a good place for a meet owing to its huge carpark. Interesting Fact: This used to be an annual stage in the now defunct Tour of Britain cycle race, the steady incline of the road reaches a maximum height of 417 metres or 1,367ft in old money.
