Summary

In an effort to spice up the route home from Scotland, I decided to leave the M74 and explore the hills of Dumfries and Galloway. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and rare with most people heading further north before taking their leave of the motorway. This is a fast drive with most of the distance de-restricted and in many places maintaining 60mph is a challenge. There are some steep drops and nail biting blind climbs that will have you working up a real armpit sweat. Drumlanrig Castle is also just off the route and would make an ideal stop over as the building and the grounds are amazing.
